I’m trying to enter Device IDs into the device identifier field, which IDs can I use?
Note: ICCID is only valid for the Subscriber Identification Module (SIM).
What do the “Device status” states mean?
What are the fees for deactivating service for devices?
Please consult your Verizon contract for rules governing service deactivations. Your account may have Early Termination Fees (ETF) and you may have ETF waivers to apply when you deactivate.
Why can't I select devices on different pages?
Device selections are only valid on the page you are currently on. You cannot select multiple devices across pages.
What do I use to upload devices?
Using the Upload Devices action in the Devices page, administrators can upload a list of up to 2000 devices at a time to ThingSpace. These devices can then be assigned values for Cost Center Code, Device Group and/or Custom Fields. These devices are uploaded in a Preactive state.
Verizon 2G or 3G device identifiers:
Records for 2G or 3G devices must identify a device by either its ESN or MEID. Do not include both identifiers. When a file includes both the ESN and MEID for a 2G or 3G device, ThingSpace stores only the ESN. NOTE: Verizon no longer supports 2G and 3G devices! Those technologies have been sunset as of 01/01/2023.
4G device identifiers:
Records for 4G devices must include both the IMEI and ICCID or the ICCID and SKU. If one of the identifiers is missing, ThingSpace rejects the record.
When activating service for a device, why do I see a list of devices that are not eligible?
There are eligibility checks that are done before a transaction is submitted. For example, one of the checks is to validate that the Device Identifiers are in the proper format and another will validate that the device is certified to work on the Verizon network. If a device shows up as ineligible, there will be a message that explains what the reason is.
Where can I view my transactions?
The legacy Transactions page was renamed to Logs. Provisioning transactions are now located there.
What are the different reports I can run?
What is an Aggregated Usage Report?
This report outputs the overall usage for all devices in your plan.
What is a Daily Usage Report?
This report outputs the amount of data an individual device used during each day in the specified date range. This report can also be used for aggregated device data usage: the total amount of data all devices used during a specified date range.
What is a Data Usage Trending Chart Report?
This report outputs a chart to visualize data usage for selected devices over a specified time period. Views that show data usage time units in days or weeks and group data by all devices or by device group can be defined.
What is a Session History Report?
This report will output all connection sessions during a specified date range, including the usage consumed and duration of each session. Standard connectivity patterns can be determined by reviewing .The Session History Report only contains information about data sessions that have ended. Start and Stop records delineate a session. The report does not contain information about current data sessions; including 4G devices that have been connected for an extended period or established sessions that are ongoing.
What is a Rated Unbilled Usage Report?
This report provides an estimate of rated usage (usage that will be billed) that is unbilled (not billed yet) while a billing cycle is in-progress. Actual billing amounts may differ from ThingSpace Manage estimates in the report. Usage data is typically two days in arrears for non-roaming data. To obtain a report that contains usage data for the first half of a bill cycle, wait until about Day 17 of the billing cycle to generate a report. Roaming data may be updated less frequently. Rated usage data is not available to display in this report until about six days after the start of the selected device’s bill cycle. When you attempt to generate a report before data for the current bill cycle is available, this report displays data and SMS usage from the most recent bill cycle.
Note: Verizon does not recommend that this report is used for third-party billing at this time.
What is the difference between an online report and an offline report?
Online reports are run immediately and the results are provided on the page. Offline reports are submitted for processing in the backend and are available in the Downloads center when processing is completed.
What are alert rules?
ThingSpace alert rules define the following items: a group of devices to alert, a behavior that will trigger an alert, the severity of an alert trigger, who the email or SMS alert message will be sent to, how often reminders will be sent and (where applicable) whether or not to suspend a device upon trigger of an alert. Trigger behaviors are divided into 3 different alert types: Usage, Network, and Transaction.
How long will I be able to access my historical data?
Verizon will delete historical records from the ThingSpace Platform database in keeping with the data retention policy outlined below. This action will limit the amount of historical data that can be accessed using the ThingSpace Manage portal and the Wireless Network Services APIs.
To retain historical data before it is deleted: run the appropriate reports and export the logs in ThingSpace Manage, retrieve the results from the Download Center and store these results on your local resources.
How long is system log data retained?
How long is report data retained?
Does my data usage reset every billing cycle?
At the beginning of each billing cycle, the software resets the amount of data accumulated for a device and returns the device to the “Share Group” with the lowest usage. Click the link to learn more about Share Groups.
When a device’s billing cycle changes, ThingSpace automatically adjusts its usage calculations.
Note: ThingSpace does not prorate or perform other adjustments due to a changed billing cycle date. The billing cycle varies by device. Please contact your account manager for more details.
Billing cycles tracked in ThingSpace, and those used to calculate Verizon invoices, are off by approximately six hours. Any usage accumulated during the final six hours of the device’s billing cycle will appear on the subsequent Verizon invoice.
What is the difference between Rated and Unrated data?
The cost of monthly device data usage is determined by rated data (applied at the time of billing).
Unrated data is raw data, also known as primary data, is data obtained directly from a network source such as AAA or RTRTS.
Raw data is used to view device usage as well as run daily and aggregated usage reports in ThingSpace.
What causes some of the raw data NOT to be included in the bill?
Proration may apply during the billing period.
How do I delete the System Default view?
The System Default view can only be edited and not deleted. An Administrator can create any number of personalized views and designate which view should become the default view. ThingSpace Manage provides the System Default view for initial use.

Can I access ThingSpace Analytics via an API?
At this time ThingSpace Analytics is a portal experience. However, you can export the data from the ThingSpace Portal. An API version of Analytics will be available in the future.
What is SIM Secure?
SIM Secure binds a physical SIM to a particular device. If the SIM is removed from its intended device and placed in another device, then no connection to the network will be made. This allows customers to prevent SIM misuse. Data overages won’t occur if a customer removes the SIM from an IoT device and inserts it into another device as no connection is made.
Why don’t I see all my devices when looking at SIM Secure filtered device view?
ThingSpace will display only devices which are eligible for SIM Secure. The devices must be activated on Verizon’s network and not roaming. Also the devices must be LTE capable. NBIoT, 2G and 3G devices are not supported.
Are there any reasons that a SIM Secure provisioning request will be pending?
If the device is not turned on, roaming or is falling back to 3G, then the provisioning request will be queued. Once the device is turned on and is connected to Verizon's LTE network the provisioning request will succeed within 48 hours.
Why are my 5G Business Internet Plans greyed out/ unavailable in ThingSpace?
5G Business Internet requires address validation during the activation process. By checking the "5G BI" checkbox in the activation process, it will prompt the user to enter an address alongside each IMEI and ICCID pair. Check the transaction logs afterward to see if the address and activation was successful.
