Trying Verizon Personal Cloud Storage APIs

Where to Begin

To try Personal Cloud Storage APIs, log on to the Developer Portal using your mobile number and password. If you do not remember your password, the Developer Portal allows you to request a code which you can receive via a tex message and use with your mobile number to log on. You can also opt to create and use a test account. You do not need to have a Verizon account to create a test account.

You can use our API Console or individual APIs.

You can try Verizon Personal Cloud Storage APIs in any order you wish. The following sequence can help to get you started:

  1. Display your account usage information with GET /account API.
  2. Call GET /metadata to obtain a list of all virtual folders.
  3. Retrieve listing of all files and folders within your virtual folder using GET /fullview API.
  4. Use GET /metadata/{path} API to retrieve metadata for a file or a folder.
  5. Retrieve thumbnails for your images with GET /thumbnails/{content-token} API.
  6. Use GET /search API to find a specific file.
  7. Retrieve the file’s content using GET /files/{path} API.

How to try the API Console

The example below shows a successful API request using GET /fullview API. You can follow these steps to try out any of the APIs.

  1. Begin the OAuth 2.0 authentication process by clicking on the gray button on the upper right hand corner.

  2. You will be presented with a consent screen to grant the API access to your Verizon Personal Cloud Storage account. Place a check mark next to ‘I agree to allow this website to access my application account to try out the API’ and select Authorize.

  3. Log on to your Verizon Cloud account:
    • Enter your Verizon phone number to request a text message with a confirmation code.
    • Select Sign in with My Verizon password to use your Verizon Cloud account’s phone number and password.
    • Select Sign in with ThingSpace to use your ThingSpace credentials.

  4. Select Approve to allow the API access to your cloud account.

  5. Once authenticated, you will be brought back to the API console. The OAuth 2.0 authentication button will now be turned on.

  6. Scroll down until you see gray Try It Out! button and select it.
